The pager has a static IP address, and the mobile application makes an HTTP request to the pager to turn it on or off. This is the first iteration of the design, for future iterations the aesthetic of the packaging would be improved, the vibration motor would be softer, and the charging would be done with prongs that allow for stacking of the pagers (much like contemporary pagers.
I designed and built the whole android application utilizing MIT App Inventor
All programming was block based, however all it does is send an HTTP request to the router it's connected to, which toggles the pager system. In tests it works seamlessly with no latency.
Although simple, the first iteration that was designed utilized 3D printed PLA parts. I designed and fabricated the parts on my printer, then sent them to my partner to have the electronics assembled.
